There is currently over $600 million in unclaimed property being held at the state: NC Cash Club reunites people with unclaimed property
When financial institutions, insurance companies, public agencies, and businesses have bank accounts, wages, utility deposits, insurance policy proceeds, stocks, bonds, and contents of safe deposit boxes for which there have been no documented transactions or contact with the owners for a statutory period of time, state law requires that these institutions turn over the unclaimed property to the state. The Department of the Treasury, under the leadership of NC Treasurer Richard Moore, is working to reunite this property with rightful owners.
Check www.nccash.com to see if you or someone you know has unclaimed property. The process is simple and FREE! If this website search reveals unclaimed property, print out the claims form, complete it, and return it to the Department of Treasury.
