Certified Financial Counselor & Educator
Sequoyah joined OnTrack WNC in 2018. She is originally from the Bahamas and immigrated to the U.S. at the age of ten. She began her career in education, as a teaching assistant and then moved overseas to teach English as a second language in South Korea and Indonesia. Transitioning to the nonprofit sector, Sequoyah worked for the Dragon Fly Foundation and Our Voice. Sequoyah holds two Master’s degrees in Counseling and Religion.
Sequoyah finds true joy in helping people. She has lived in WNC since 2000 and enjoys helping connect low income individuals to the wide variety of economic assistance programs in our region. She genuinely strives to help empower people to overcome barriers and to help them achieve a higher quality of life.
Sequoyah is a single mom, a voracious reader and she geeks out about everything Sci-Fi. She loves to travel and tries to go on one big adventure every year. She hopes to stay at OnTrack WNC until retirement, at which time she dreams of joining the “Peace Corps for Seniors.”
