On a sunny Friday in March, the OnTrack WNC team climbed aboard the Hood Huggers’ International van and toured historically African American neighborhoods, community centers and gathering places. Lead by DeWayne Barton, CEO and founder of the organization we saw “History. Art. Poetry. Music. Community green spaces. Vivid voices. Grassroots initiatives.” Which taught us that “The past, present, and future of African-Americans in Asheville is a story of resilience.” Our advice? Do the tour!
