OnTrack WNC’s certified IRS-trained tax preparers will prepare tax returns FREE for individuals and families with 2023 household income of up to $60,000.

Here are the steps in the process:
- Step 1: Fill out an online screening (link above).
- Step 2: We’ll email you a link to select an appointment for your tax preparation. We’ll also mail you a packet of information and forms that you’ll need to fill out and bring to your appointment.
- Step 3: Arrive at the OnTrack WNC office 5-10 minutes before your appointment time with ALL YOUR TAX DOCUMENTS PRINTED OUT. Please do not bring digital copies of your tax forms. A volunteer tax preparer will prepare your return while you wait in the lobby. The volunteer will check in with you from time to time to ask clarifying questions.
- Step 4: Once your return is prepared, your tax preparer will review your return with you and answer any questions you may have. With your signed permission, the volunteers will e-file your return and you will take a paper copy home with you.
