OnTrack WNC’s amazing Tax Volunteers Jack Laughlin, Sherman Fearing and Bobbie Gray were at it again: helping veterans at the annual Veteran Stand Down event on September 6th at the Stephen Lee Community Center. IRS staff members Claudia Adams and Christopher Nebel were on-site to provide additional taxpayer support and assistance. The Charles George VA Medical Center Event Coordinator reported more than 115 registered veterans attended the event. 

In addition to having access to free tax preparation and IRS inquiries, veterans had access to a wide range of available services such as medical, dental, vision care, mental health information, chaplain services, pastoral counseling, VA Programs, legal services, vocational rehab, DAV, homeless services, nutrition programs, job services, surplus gear, pet care, and haircuts, while enjoying music, breakfast and lunch.
