In December, we shared the great news that our Budgeting & Debt classes are available in Spanish! Learn more and help us spread the word!
In 2020, we will take our services to the next level with a major project to translate education and counseling documents into Spanish to improve access and understanding for people whose preferred language is Spanish. Meet our amazing team:
- Alejandro Barberena is a new friend of the agency. After he learned about our programs for women, especially single moms AND that two Spanish speaking staff members joined us in June, Alejandro made OnTrack WNC the beneficiary of a grant from Consuelo’s Fund which he setup with The Community Foundation of WNC to honor the memory of his remarkable mother. This all-important investment truly made our project a reality!
- But that’s not all! Next, Alejandro introduced us to Lola Ortiz, an accomplished, highly-trained, expert translator. Lola’s international experience includes years at the World Bank! She quickly became an important part of our team, bringing her expertise and commitment to our translation project.
- Stephanie Dasai, OnTrack WNC financial counselor, has been a catalyst for this work and expansion of our services. Stephanie enthusiastically brings her wisdom, connections, intentionality, lived-experience and passion for providing much needed information to the community.
- Former OnTrack WNC financial counselor Kathryn Beach – also very passionate about this work – is playing an important coordination role by compiling documents and communicating with Lola on a regular basis as the translation project moves forward.
Stay tuned for more about these enhancements, including adding Spanish-language information on our web site to complement the project and reinforce our outreach efforts.
